Product Specific Information
This antibody contains rabbit variable heavy and light chains with mouse constant domains. It specifically recognizes human IDO protein.
This chimeric antibody is detected by anti-mouse secondary antibodies and does not cross-react with anti-rabbit secondary antibodies.
It is recommended to titrate the antibody carefully for optimal performance in the desired assay.
Target Information
IDO1 is an intracellular heme-containing enzyme that catalyzes the oxidative cleavage of the indole ring of regulatory molecules such as tryptophan, serotonin, and melatonin. This process initiates the formation of biologically active kynurenines.
IDO1 is widely expressed in human tissues, macrophages, and dendritic cells. During inflammation, interferons (IFNs) induce IDO1 expression, contributing to antimicrobial defense by degrading tryptophan, thereby inhibiting pathogen growth.
IDO1 also plays an essential role in immunoregulation during infection, pregnancy, autoimmunity, transplantation, and cancer.
