Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron transporting protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space, essential for oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Upon apoptotic stimuli, cytochrome C is released into the cytosol, where it binds apoptotic protease activating factor, triggering activation of procaspase 9 and subsequently caspase 3—key steps in the apoptosis pathway.
