Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of about 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

SMAD2 (MADH2, MAD2) regulates various cellular processes including proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. It interacts with TGF-beta receptors via the SMAD anchor for receptor activation, a central event in TGF-beta signaling.
Phosphorylation of threonine 8 by ERK1 enhances SMAD2 transcriptional activity, which is negatively regulated by calmodulin. Upon TGF-beta signaling, SMAD2 is phosphorylated, dissociates from SARA, and associates with SMAD4 for nuclear translocation. In the nucleus, SMAD2 binds target promoters and forms transcription repressor complexes. It can also be phosphorylated by activin type 1 receptor kinase, mediating activin signaling.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the SMAD2 protein have been observed.
