Target Information
SUMO2는 SUMO (small ubiquitin-like modifier) 단백질 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 유비퀴틴과 유사한 방식으로 표적 단백질에 결합하여 번역 후 변형(post-translational modification)에 관여합니다.
유비퀴틴이 단백질 분해를 유도하는 것과 달리, SUMO2는 핵 내 수송, 전사 조절, 세포자멸사(apoptosis), 단백질 안정성 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다.
척추동물에서는 SUMO1, SUMO2, SUMO3 세 가지 주요 동형체가 보고되었으며, SUMO2와 SUMO3는 SUMO1과 기능적으로 구별됩니다.
SUMO2/3의 N-말단 부위에 존재하는 SUMO 결합 부위는 SAE1/SAE2 (SUMO E1) 및 Ubc9 (SUMO E2)에 의해 폴리머 사슬 형성에 사용되며, 이는 SUMO1에서는 관찰되지 않는 특성입니다.
