Glutathione S-transferase (GST) is a 26 kDa protein found in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes, catalyzing various reactions. GST is widely used to create GST gene fusion systems, allowing purification via glutathione affinity. GST-fusion proteins are valuable tools for studying protein–protein interactions and are incorporated in numerous expression vectors.
