Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and have potential as novel biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK12 gene is one of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19. Alternate splicing results in three transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
