According to the literature, this antibody recognizes the serine protease Granzyme B1, which is involved in apoptotic cell death. Granzyme B and other enzymes in lytic granules are released primarily by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs).
The GB11 monoclonal antibody is suitable for immunostaining in flow cytometry and has been shown to be useful as an ELISA capture antibody.

Target Information

Granzyme B is a member of the granzyme serine protease family, found in the granules of cytotoxic T cells and NK cells. It is also known as CGL1 (cathepsin G-like-1) and CTLA-1 (cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated serine esterase 1).
Granzyme B plays a crucial role in inducing target cell apoptosis through interaction with cytotoxic T cells. It binds to the mannose 6-phosphate receptor, acting as a death receptor during CTL-induced apoptosis.
Granzyme B cleaves caspase-3 to initiate the caspase cascade leading to DNA fragmentation and apoptosis, and can also activate mitochondrial apoptosis via Bid protein cleavage.
Granzymes are neutral serine proteases stored in specialized lytic granules of CTLs and NK cells. Multiple granzymes (A–G) have been identified in mice, while fewer have been cloned in humans.
