Product Specific Information
This peptide corresponds to 17 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of human GDF6.
PEP-0688 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20568.
Target Information
GDF6 is a growth differentiation factor (GDF), a member of the transforming growth factor (TGF) superfamily involved in embryonic development and adult tissue homeostasis.
Both GDF6 and GDF7 are closely related to GDF5, which induces activation of plasminogen activator and promotes angiogenesis.
It is predominantly expressed in long bones during fetal development and plays a role in bone formation.
In Xenopus, GDF6 is expressed at the edge of the neural plate and within the anterior neural plate including the eye fields.
GDF6 is required for normal formation of certain bones and joints in the limbs, skull, and axial skeleton, and may regulate ectoderm patterning via interaction with BMPs, contributing to eye development.
Mutations in this gene can result in colobomata (ocular developmental abnormalities) and Klippel-Feil syndrome (KFS), a congenital disorder of spinal segmentation.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
