Target Information
The STAT5B protein is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. Upon cytokine or growth factor stimulation, STAT proteins are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases and form dimers that translocate to the nucleus to act as transcription activators. STAT5B mediates signaling from ligands such as IL2, IL4, CSF1, and various growth hormones. It is involved in processes including TCR signaling, apoptosis, mammary gland development, and liver gene expression dimorphism. Dysregulation of STAT5B signaling has been linked to acute promyelocytic leukemias (APLL) where it can fuse with the RARA gene.
