Target Information
The TL1A protein is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It is abundantly expressed in endothelial cells but not in B or T cells. Its expression is inducible by TNF and IL-1α. TL1A acts as a ligand for receptors TNFRSF25 and TNFRSF21/DR6, activating NF-κB and MAP kinases. It functions as an autocrine factor inducing apoptosis in endothelial cells and may inhibit angiogenesis. An additional isoform from an alternatively spliced transcript variant has been reported.
