Target Information

T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase (TC-PTP), also known as PTPT and PTPN2, is an enzyme that removes phosphate groups covalently attached to tyrosine residues in proteins.
This enzyme has two C-terminal splice variants with distinct subcellular localizations:

• The 45 kDa isoform is nuclear in resting cells but redistributes to the cytosol upon stimulation with growth factors or cellular stress.
• The 48 kDa isoform is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum and has different physiological substrates.

TC-PTP is expressed in many cell types, particularly in hematopoietic cells. Knockout mice lacking TC-PTP exhibit erythropoietic and lymphopoietic deficits, indicating its critical role in bone marrow maturation.
It dephosphorylates various phosphoproteins such as p52 Shc and receptors for EGF, insulin, and growth hormone.
