Target Information
The ANGPTL3 gene encodes a secreted protein family member involved in angiogenesis and lipid metabolism. It is predominantly expressed in the liver and processed into two chains:
- N-terminal coiled-coil domain chain – important for lipid metabolism
- C-terminal fibrinogen chain – may be involved in angiogenesis
Mutations in this gene are associated with familial hypobetalipoproteinemia type 2.
