Target Information
The ATF1 gene encodes an activating transcription factor belonging to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It regulates downstream target genes involved in cellular growth, survival, and other processes. Phosphorylation at serine 63 by various kinases enhances its transactivation and transcriptional activities, contributing to cell transformation. Gene fusion events involving FUS (chromosome 16) or EWSR1 (chromosome 22) can generate chimeric proteins associated with angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma. A pseudogene is located on chromosome 6.
