Target Information
MIA3/TANGO plays a role in the transport of large cargos that cannot fit into COPII-coated vesicles. It is required for collagen VII (COL7A1) secretion by loading COL7A1 into transport carriers and may participate in cargo loading at endoplasmic reticulum exit sites by interacting with COPII subunits Sec23/24. It is specific to COL7A1 cargo loading but may also be involved in lipoprotein secretion. Additionally, it is required for proper COPII coat assembly and localization of SEC16A and ER-resident complexes (MIA2, PREB/SEC12) to ERES. [UniProt]
