Target Information

Napsin 1 is an aspartic protease predominantly expressed in the lung, also found in kidney and metastatic carcinomas. It processes surfactant protein B in pulmonary and renal tissues but shows abnormal regulation in carcinogenesis. Napsin evaluation aids in cancer identification and differentiation of primary versus metastatic tumors. Combined with thyroid transcription factor analysis, it serves as a biomarker for carcinoma type differentiation. Napsin is also associated with pulmonary alveolar proteinosis and protein catabolism in renal tubules.
