Target Information

TBK1 (TANK-binding kinase 1) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the IKK family, involved in NF-κB activation and IRF3 signaling. It acts as a key mediator of gene expression during immune and inflammatory responses. NF-κB is normally inhibited by IκB proteins in the cytoplasm. Upon phosphorylation by the IKK complex (IKKα, IKKβ, IKKK), IκB is degraded, leading to NF-κB activation. TBK1, also known as NAK or T2K, activates IKKβ through direct phosphorylation and participates in NF-κB activation in response to growth factors and PMA. TBK1 functions upstream of NIK and the IKK complex and plays a critical role in protecting embryonic liver cells from apoptosis.
