Target Information

Insulin-like growth factor-II mRNA-binding protein 3 (IMP-3), also known as K homology domain-containing protein overexpressed in cancer (KOC) and L523S, is a member of the IGF-II mRNA-binding protein family.
IMP-3 is expressed during embryogenesis and in certain malignancies. It is present in malignant melanoma but not in benign nevi, even with dysplastic features. IMP-3 expression is significantly higher in melanomas than in Spitz nevi, and more abundant in metastatic melanomas compared to thin melanomas.
It may play an important role in tumor progression and regulation of malignant behavior.
