Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily, which mediates the transport of various molecules across cellular membranes.
It is a member of the MRP subfamily involved in multidrug resistance, functioning as a multispecific organic anion transporter.
Substrates include oxidized glutathione, cysteinyl leukotrienes, activated aflatoxin B1, as well as glucuronides and sulfate conjugates of steroid hormones and bile salts.
Alternative splicing results in several variants, all maintaining the original open reading frame.
