Target Information
Msi2 (Musashi homolog 2), also known as MSI2H, is a 328 amino acid RNA-binding protein localized in the cytoplasm and containing two RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains. It is expressed ubiquitously at low levels and plays a role in the proliferation and maintenance of stem cells within the central nervous system by regulating target mRNA expression. Msi2 is phosphorylated post-translationally and upregulated in response to brain injury, suggesting a role in neural regeneration. Chromosomal aberrations involving Msi2 are associated with chronic myeloid leukemia progression. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
