MA5-17183 targets STAT5A in FACS, ICC, IHC, and WB applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human STAT5A (amino acids 583–794) expressed in E. coli.
MA5-17183 detects STAT5A, which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 90.6 kDa.

Target Information

STAT5 alpha is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases and form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the nucleus to act as transcription activators.
STAT5 alpha mediates responses to ligands such as IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin, and various growth hormones.
Activation of STAT5 alpha in myeloma and lymphoma associated with a TEL/JAK2 gene fusion is independent of cell stimulus and essential for tumorigenesis.
In mouse, STAT5 alpha induces expression of BCL2L1/BCL-X(L), suggesting an anti-apoptotic function. STAT5 alpha and STAT5 beta share 96% sequence similarity and are co-expressed in most tissues, though differential mRNA accumulation occurs in muscle and mammary tissue.
STAT5 alpha plays critical roles in reproduction, lactation, immune function, and somatic growth.
