The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the regulation of cell proliferation and mediates crosstalk between adiponectin and insulin signaling pathways. It interacts with proteins such as RAB5A, DCC, AKT2, PIK3CA, adiponectin receptors, and NuRD/MeCP1 complex proteins. This protein is associated with endosomal membranes, can be released by EGF, and translocated to the nucleus.
