Target Information
IA-1 (also known as INSM1) is a zinc-finger transcription factor initially identified from an insulinoma cDNA library and expressed in the developing nervous system. It is present in the forebrain, midbrain, hindbrain, spinal cord, retina, and olfactory bulb as early as embryonic day 9.5 in mice. IA-1 functions as a transcriptional repressor and participates in several signaling pathways, including Notch, sonic hedgehog, and Ngn3 during pancreatic endocrine cell differentiation. It is expressed in multiple neuroendocrine tumors and nearly all small cell lung carcinomas, making it a potential target in cancer research.
