Target Information
Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein comprising about half of blood serum protein. It functions as a carrier for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones, and helps stabilize extracellular fluid volume. Albumin is a globular, unglycosylated serum protein (~65 kDa) synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin, which undergoes sequential cleavage to form secreted albumin.
