Integrin alpha 4 (CD49d, ITGA4)는 integrin alpha 체인 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다.
Integrins는 α 및 β 사슬로 구성된 이종이량체 막 단백질이며, alpha4는 beta1 또는 beta7 사슬과 결합합니다.
Integrin α4β1 및 α4β7의 리간드 결합 부위는 alpha4 체인에 위치하며, 대표적인 리간드는 MadCAM, VCAM, fibronectin입니다.
MadCAM은 integrin α4β7의 주요 리간드로 알려져 있으며, HIV-1 envelope이 MadCAM을 모방하여 integrin α4β7을 통해 결합 및 신호 전달을 할 수 있음이 보고되었습니다.
