Survivin (IAP4)는 Inhibitors of Apoptosis Protein (IAP) 유전자 패밀리 중 가장 작은 구성원입니다. IAP 계열 단백질은 세포 신호전달, 세포 분열, 대사 등 다양한 세포 기능에 관여하며, 대부분의 암 조직에서 발현되지만 정상 조직에서는 거의 발현되지 않습니다. Survivin은 단일 BIR 도메인을 가지며, RING finger 도메인을 결여하고 있습니다. 이 단백질은 세포주기 G2/M 단계에서 발현되며, 유사분열 시 미세소관과 결합하여 세포사멸 억제 기능을 수행합니다. Survivin의 과발현은 암세포의 비정상적인 세포 분열 진행과 관련이 있습니다. 또한, 뇌 손상 후 신경세포의 증식 반응 조절에도 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
