Target Information
Several serine/threonine protein kinases are intermediates in signal transduction pathways, including ERK/MAP kinases, Rsk, and Raf-1. Raf-1 is a cytoplasmic serine/threonine kinase, broadly expressed and homologous to v-Raf, the product of murine sarcoma virus. Unregulated v-Raf activity is linked to transformation and mitogenesis, while Raf-1 is regulated by its N-terminal domain.
A-Raf, another member of the Raf family, shares significant homology with Raf-1 in the kinase domain but less elsewhere. A-Raf expression is highest in urogenital tissues and kidney, and lowest in brain tissue.
