The Porcine IL-4 Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures IL-4 protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits to create customized multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the principles of a sandwich ELISA, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously using a Luminex instrument. These assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and provide analyzed results within four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for the simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single small-volume sample. Each Luminex bead is internally dyed with specific ratios of red and infrared fluorophores, creating unique spectral signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).

Similar to a sandwich ELISA, matched antibody pairs identify the target protein. Each bead is labeled with antibodies specific to one protein target, and detection is achieved using biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE). The bead-based capture system allows simultaneous analysis of multiple targets in a single well.

Unlike traditional ELISA, ProcartaPlex assays use capture antibodies conjugated to beads that remain free-floating in solution. Detection instruments such as the Luminex 200 use dual lasers: one to identify bead signatures and another to quantify RPE fluorescence, which correlates with protein concentration. This enables profiling of more proteins using less sample in similar assay time.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available across six species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine).
