Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is commonly activated in various tumor cells and plays crucial roles in cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.
Phosphorylation of c-Myc at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK is associated with regulation of cell proliferation and cycle control.
c-Myc is essential for vasculogenesis and angiogenesis in tumor development. Deregulated expression of c-Myc induces apoptosis and contributes to oncogenesis in multiple tissues.
Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene has been implicated in human cancers including lung, breast, colon carcinomas, and Burkitt’s lymphoma.
Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes recognize overexpressed proteins containing Myc epitope tags fused to either amino- or carboxy-termini of target proteins.
