Target Information
Alpha Tubulin is a component of a heterodimer consisting of alpha and beta tubulin subunits, each approximately 55 kDa. These subunits form microtubules, essential structural and transport elements in eukaryotic cells, playing a key role in mitosis. Microtubules are composed of alpha and beta tubulin heterodimers, while gamma tubulin is crucial for microtubule nucleation. Multiple alpha and beta tubulin genes exist and are highly conserved among species. The alpha tubulin gene shows high similarity to the mouse and rat Tuba1 gene. Expression is predominantly found in morphologically differentiated neurologic cells.
