Target Information
The 3’,5’-cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP act as second messengers in diverse signal transduction pathways. 3’,5’-cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) hydrolyze cAMP and cGMP to 5’-monophosphates, downregulating their signaling. PDE11A belongs to the PDE superfamily. Mutations in PDE11A are associated with Cushing disease and adrenocortical hyperplasia. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
