Product Specific Information

The 2B8 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD117 (c-Kit receptor), also known as Steel factor receptor or stem cell factor receptor. This 145-kDa tyrosine kinase receptor is expressed by hematopoietic progenitor cells in mouse bone marrow, mast cells, and plays a key role in cell signaling and activation.

Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of mouse bone marrow cells (≤0.5 µg/test, 100 µL final volume).
Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Careful titration recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information

KIT (c-KIT) is a proto-oncogene encoding a type 3 transmembrane receptor for mast cell growth factor (MGF or stem cell factor, SCF). KIT regulates growth and activation of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Mutations are linked to gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, acute myelogenous leukemia, and piebaldism.

Upon ligand binding, c-Kit dimerizes and autophosphorylates tyrosine residues (e.g., Tyr703), enabling Grb2 docking and activation of Ras/ERK signaling. SCF/c-Kit also activates PI3K, PLC-γ, and JAK/STAT pathways, essential for hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, and gametogenesis.
