Target Information

The coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that binds to dilysine motifs and reversibly associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles, mediating biosynthetic protein transport from the ER via the Golgi to the trans-Golgi network. It is essential for budding from Golgi membranes and retrograde Golgi-to-ER transport of dilysine-tagged proteins. In mammals, recruitment occurs via ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs), small GTP-binding proteins that influence Golgi structural integrity and the processing, activity, and recycling of LDL receptors.
