Target Information
The CHST7 gene belongs to the sulfotransferase gene family. Sulfotransferases generate sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) moieties during chondroitin sulfate biosynthesis, creating structural diversity among chondroitin sulfates by transferring sulfate with remarkable substrate specificity. This gene product mainly transfers sulfate to N-acetylgalactosamine. Regulated expression of each gene family member may determine sulfated GAG expression and the associated biological functions of chondroitin sulfates. The CHST7 gene is located on chromosome Xp11.23.
