Target Information
The protein encoded by the VPREB1/CD179a gene belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is expressed selectively at the early stages of B-cell development, specifically in proB and early preB cells. It encodes the iota polypeptide chain that associates with the Ig-mu chain to form a molecular complex on the surface of pre-B cells, thought to regulate Ig gene rearrangements during early B-cell differentiation.
