Target Information

CD68 (Macrosialin) is a 110 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on intracellular lysosomes of monocytes and macrophages, and to a lesser extent in dendritic cells and granulocytes. It is involved in phagocytic activity, lysosomal metabolism, and cell-cell or cell-pathogen interactions.
CD68 expression is observed in interdigitating reticulum cells, histiocytic lymphoma, histiocytosis, AML, and granulocytic sarcoma. Elevated expression has been reported in CD34+ cells in various human malignancies, including several acute myeloid leukemia studies.
