Product Specific Information

The RM2-5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD2 molecule, an approximately 50–55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by all mouse lymphocytes.
Expression of CD2 in mice differs from humans, as mouse B lineage cells from the pre-B cell stage to mature B cells express CD2.
CD2 serves as a ligand for CD48 and is involved in adhesion and activation of T cells.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes and bone marrow cells; use ≤0.2 µg/test in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number may vary from 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Titrate for optimal performance.

Important Notes:

• NovaFluor dyes are incompatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., propidium iodide, 7-AAD, DAPI).
• Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains for compatibility.
• CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer (Cat. No. C001T06F01) is required for optimal staining.
• Add 5 µL per sample to antibody cocktails before combining with cells.
• For single-color controls, use 5 µL per 100 µL of cell sample (10³–10⁸ cells).

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (MW 45–58 kDa) expressed on human T-lymphocytes and some NK cells.
It is involved in T-cell adhesion and activation through interaction with CD58, stabilizing contact between T cells and antigen-presenting cells.
CD2 deficiency is linked to reduced intestinal inflammation and certain immune disorders.
