Target Information
HOXC11 belongs to the homeobox family of genes, which encode highly conserved transcription factors crucial for morphogenesis in multicellular organisms.
Mammals have four homeobox gene clusters (HOXA, HOXB, HOXC, HOXD) located on different chromosomes, each containing 9–11 genes arranged in tandem.
HOXC11, located on chromosome 12, binds to the promoter element of lactase-phlorizin hydrolase and may contribute to early intestinal development.
An alternatively spliced variant encoding a shorter isoform has been described, though its full-length nature remains undetermined.
