Target Information
AKT, also known as protein kinase B (PKB) or RAS-alpha, is a ubiquitous serine/threonine kinase involved in regulating metabolism, cell survival, and growth through phosphorylation of multiple proteins. It is activated by insulin, PI3K, IGF1, and other growth factors, promoting cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis via phosphorylation of targets including forkhead transcription factors and caspase-9. The AKT pathway is a major focus in cancer drug discovery.
