Description:
The monoclonal antibody DNT27 reacts with mouse Epstein-Barr Virus-induced gene 3 (EBI3). EBI3 is a 34 kDa soluble protein first identified in B cells that is upregulated after Epstein-Barr virus infection. It can form homodimers or heterodimerize with IL-27α (p28, IL-30) to create the cytokine IL-27, which is produced mainly by dendritic cells and macrophages. Additionally, EBI3 can form IL-35 by pairing with the p35 subunit of IL-12, produced by regulatory T cells.

- Tested by Western blot using lysates from mouse EBI3-transfected 293T cells and bone marrow-derived dendritic cells.

Target Information
EBI3 (Epstein-Barr virus Induced-3) is a secreted glycoprotein belonging to the hematopoietin receptor family. It plays a regulatory role in Th2-type immune responses and Th2-mediated tissue inflammation, possibly through modulation of iNKT cell function.
EBI3 forms heterodimers with IL-27 (via p28) and IL-35 (via p35), influencing immune signaling and cytokine regulation. It is widely expressed and regulated by TLR signaling via MyD88 and NF-κB pathways.
EBI3 suppresses IL-17 production while enhancing IL-10 expression, contributing to immune tolerance and inflammation control. It may also influence tumor metastasis and allergic airway inflammation.
