Target Information
The Notch gene family encodes transmembrane proteins with multiple cysteine-rich EGF-like repeats in the extracellular region. Four Notch genes (Notch1–4) are described in mammals and are involved in the differentiation of the nervous system and other tissues. Delta and Serrate act as ligands for Notch1. Mature Notch proteins form heterodimeric receptors composed of an extracellular subunit (NEC) and a transmembrane subunit (Ntm) derived from cleavage of Notch pre-proteins.
