Target Information

CDCA8 is a component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) essential for bipolar mitotic spindle stability. The CPC includes Survivin, CDCA8, INCENP, and Aurora-B, which play crucial roles in mitosis and cell division.
CDCA8 expression increases during the G2/M phase and decreases after mitosis. It is regulated by the p53/Rb signaling pathway and is up-regulated in various cancers.
In Drosophila, CDCA8 inactivation causes polyploidy, delayed mitosis, and abnormal tissue development, indicating its critical role in cell proliferation. Recent studies show that CDCA8 is essential for early embryonic development, and its loss leads to embryonic lethality not rescued by p53 deficiency. Aberrant CDCA8 expression correlates with poor prognosis in gastric cancer.
