Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with the epsilon chain of the CD3 complex.
Target Information
The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulating the surface expression of the TCR complex.
T cell activation through the TCR involves the cytoplasmic tails of CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits. These are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on human chromosome 11.
CD3 antigens are expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes, but not on B or NK cells.
Defects in the CD3 gene are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
