MRE11 (double-strand break repair protein MRE11)는 MRN complex의 구성 요소로, 이 복합체는 DNA 이중 가닥 절단 복구, 재조합, 텔로미어 유지 및 감수분열에서 중심적인 역할을 합니다.
MRE11은 단일 가닥 엔도뉴클레이스 및 이중 가닥 특이적 3’-5’ 엑소뉴클레이스 활성을 가지며, RAD50은 DNA 말단 결합과 근접 유지에 필요합니다.
이 유전자에 돌연변이가 발생하면 ataxia-telangiectasia-like disorder 1이 유발될 수 있습니다.
