Target Information
LHCGR encodes the receptor for both luteinizing hormone (LH) and choriogonadotropin (CG). It belongs to family 1 of G-protein coupled receptors (FSH/LH/TSH superfamily). The receptor regulates the development and function of Leydig cells in males and plays a role in male secondary sexual characteristic development. Mutations in this receptor can result in disorders such as familial male precocious puberty and male pseudohermaphroditism.
