Target Information
Androgen receptor (AR) coactivator ARA70, also known as NCOA4, RFG, and ELE1, is a co-activator that enhances androgen receptor activity. In human thyroid carcinomas, ARA70 forms Ret/PTC3 through intrachromosomal inversion.
ARA70 exists as two isoforms—ARA70a and ARA70b. ARA70a is widely expressed, especially in testis and adipose tissue, while ARA70b is testis-specific. ARA70a also acts as a ligand-enhanced coactivator of PPARγ in adipocytes.
ARA70 may play roles in prostate and ovarian cancer and mediate estrogen-androgen synergism.
