Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Evidence suggests their involvement in carcinogenesis and potential as biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK1 gene is one of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located on chromosome 19 and is functionally conserved in releasing the vasoactive peptide Lys-bradykinin from low molecular weight kininogen.
