Target Information
STAU1 is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-binding protein involved in mRNA transport and localization to subcellular compartments. It contains multiple dsRNA-binding domains and a microtubule-binding domain similar to that of MAP1B, allowing interaction with tubulin.
STAU1 is associated with the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER), participating in mRNA transport via the microtubule network. It also interacts with influenza ribonucleoproteins (NS1, NP, PA) and is essential for efficient viral replication.
