Target Information
CACNA2D4 is a member of the alpha-2/delta subunit family within the voltage-dependent calcium channel complex. These calcium channels mediate calcium ion influx upon membrane polarization and consist of alpha-1, alpha-2/delta, beta, and gamma subunits in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. Various versions of these subunits exist due to gene variants or alternative splicing. Studies in rabbit suggest this protein is cleaved into alpha-2 and delta subunits. Alternate splice variants have been observed but not fully characterized.
