Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of total CACNG1.

Target Information

Voltage-dependent calcium channels are essential for neurotransmitter release. L-type (long-lasting current) voltage-dependent calcium channels consist of four subunits: alpha1, beta, gamma, and alpha2 delta.
The beta subunit is encoded by four genes (beta1–beta4), contributing to calcium current diversity and membrane trafficking of the alpha1 subunit.

L-type Ca²⁺ channel gamma1 (CACNG1), also known as CACNLG, is a 222 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein of the PMP-22/EMP/MP20 family. Expressed in skeletal muscle, it forms part of the dihydropyridine (DHP)-sensitive calcium channel and may play a role in excitation–contraction coupling.
L-type Ca²⁺ channel gamma1 is also considered a marker for malignant hyperthermia susceptibility (MHS), a dominant skeletal muscle disorder causing hypermetabolic crises triggered by certain anesthetics and depolarizing muscle relaxants.
