Target Information
HIV-1 Gag p24 is a capsid protein that constitutes the core of the AIDS virus HIV-1 and is produced by the digestion of its precursor Gag p55 by HIV-1 protease.
The HIV-1 Gag p24 protein is indispensable to the reproduction of the AIDS virus and constitutes an essential element for virus particle construction.
HIV-1 Gag p24 is detectable from the early stage of infection and is used as a marker to monitor disease progression and viral load in patients after treatment.
